Aviation: FG revokes certificates of 2 operators

The FrontierThe FrontierFebruary 1, 2025 2791 Minutes read0

The federal government, through The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), yesterday revoked the air operator certificates of Eastwind Aviation Logistics Services Limited and Omni-Blu Aviation.

In a post on its X handle, the NCAA said the move is part of efforts to “further sanitize the aviation industry”.

“The Authority has determined that both Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation are in violation of Part 1.2.1.5 of Nig. CARs on Falsification, Reproduction, or Alteration of Applications, Licences, Certificates, Logbooks, Reports, or Records,” the agency said.

“Part 1.2.1.5(b) of Nig. CARs provide the sanction for such fraud as revocation of the certificate.

“Consequently, their respective Air Operator Certificates OBA/AOC/12-15/002 and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 are hereby revoked.”

In October, a helicopter operated by Eastwind Aviation crash-landed in the Atlantic Ocean. It was carrying eight persons with one surviving, reports Channels TV.

A few days ago, Max Air suspended its operations for three months after the firm’s aircraft crash-landed at the Mallam Aminu International Airport, Kano.

The aircraft lost its landing gear tyre during landing which led to the incident.

But the airline said the development was properly managed with crew members and passengers safely evacuated. There were no injuries.

The NCAA said Max Air’s suspension of operations will enable it to appraise its internal operations.
