•Bandits

Bandits have struck again in Zamfara State, abducting over 100 farmers in Jengebe village, Talatan Mafara Local Government Area.

The incident occurred over the weekend, with the bandits returning yesterday evening, although they were unsuccessful in abducting anyone during the second attack.

According to reports from RFI Hausa service today, monitored by our correspondent, nine farmers were killed on their farms during the raids, reports The Guardian.

RFI quoted the Zamfara State government as saying it has responded swiftly to the situation.

Ahmad Dan Manga, Special Adviser to the state governor on security, assured that the government was on top of the situation and would send a delegation to visit the affected area.

He added that soldiers and vigilante security outfits have been deployed to the area to enhance security.

In a related development, the Kaduna State Police Command announced the arrest of Mati Bagiyo, a notorious bandit who had evaded capture for 11 years.

The police spokesperson of the state, Mansur Hassan, disclosed that they recovered a significant cache of weapons from him, including an AK-47 rifle, a fabricated AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, two fabricated pistols, two AK-47 magazines, two LAR rifle magazines, four AK-47 live ammunition rounds, 10 pump-action cartridges, 80 pistol rounds, a machete, two torchlights, and an unjamming rod.

He stated that Bagiyo had been terrorising Kaduna and Katsina States with his activities.

The suspect is currently in custody, providing useful information to investigators.
