Borno State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of one of its athletes, Aishatu Suleiman, who represented the state at the recently concluded 2024 National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun State.

According to reports, Suleiman passed away shortly after the Team Borno contingent returned home from the event, reports The Guardian.

The cause of her death remains unknown as of the time of filing this report.

The young athlete’s demise has sent shockwaves through the sporting community in Borno and beyond, with tributes pouring in from teammates, officials, and sympathizers.

More details are expected to emerge as investigation continues.

Recall that few days ago, Team Kano contingent to the Sports Festival had an accident on their way home from the Festival with just 50km to end the journey.
