•Mojisola Miranda and Mudashiru Obasa

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly has been impeached.

The impeachment is said to be over “allegations of abuse of office and gross misconduct”.

Obasa, who is at present holidaying abroad, has been replaced by the deputy speaker, Mojisola Miranda from Apapa 1 constituency who has reportedly been sworn in.

A video clip sighted by The Frontier shows the moment the deputy speaker mounted the seat of the Speaker after which prayer was said followed by votes by the members of Assembly present impeaching Obasa.

A source confirmed to The Frontier that there’s currently a heavy presence of security agents at the state house of assembly complex, Alausa, Ikeja.

All entreaties by The Frontier to reach the Chief Press Secretary to Speaker Obasa, Mr Eremosele, for confirmation were not successful as his line was placed on “Busy” while a message sent to him on WhatsApp was not responded to as at time of filing this report.

It would be recalled that Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have been at loggerheads for sometime now.

Obasa also recently went ahead to declare publicly his intention to run for the office of the Lagos State governor in the next general elections.
