The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 20, 2026 2170 Minutes read0

•A collapsed building

Many construction workers were today trapped while others sustained varying degrees of injuries after a two-storey building under construction collapsed along the busy Oyemekun Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

As at the time of filing this report, it was unclear whether the incident resulted in any fatalities, reports Vanguard.

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the workers were on site carrying out construction work when the building suddenly caved in at about 3:30 p.m.

Following the collapse, sympathisers and passers-by reportedly trooped to the scene to assist in rescuing those trapped beneath the rubble, as emergency response efforts commenced.

Rescue operations were still ongoing, while relevant authorities were expected to provide further details.
