BREAKING: My father is dying of cancer — Former US President Joe Biden’s son cries out

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 8, 2026 891 Minutes read0

•Former US President Joe Biden

Hunter Biden has spoken about his father Joe Biden’s ongoing cancer treatment, saying the former US president’s condition has become increasingly difficult for the family to watch.

Hunter said Joe Biden’s cancer had spread to his bones and described the illness as painful and debilitating, reports AFP.

He made the comments in an interview BBC published today while discussing his father’s battle with the disease.

“I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good — the cancer has spread,” Hunter said, adding that the disease had metastasised to his father’s bones and further.

“It’s very painful… very debilitating,” he said.

“Cancer is really hard. It’s really sad to watch,” he stated.

Hunter, who is Biden’s only surviving son, also described his father’s place within the family, saying, “My dad is, to this day, the centre of our family. He’s the best father, the best husband, the best grandfather.”

Biden announced in May 2025, four months after leaving the White House, that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

He later said his treatment was progressing well and expressed gratitude for the support and prayers he had received.

“I’m dealing with a cancer diagnosis, been getting treatment, and it’s going really well,” Biden said last month.

“I want to thank all those who have offered their prayers and support and well-wishes. It’s meant the world to me and to Jill.”

Following his diagnosis, Biden had also offered an optimistic assessment of his treatment, saying doctors expected him to respond to medication.

“The prognosis is good, we’re working on it,” he said.

“It’s all a matter of taking a pill, one particular pill, for the next six weeks. And the expectation is we’re going to be able to beat this.”

The former president has in recent months said he has been spending more time with his family while undergoing treatment.

His health had already been a subject of public discussion during the final months of his presidency and the 2024 presidential campaign.

Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race in July 2024 and was succeeded as the Democratic nominee by Vice President Kamala Harris, who later lost the election to Donald Trump.

The former president’s memoir, Promise Me, America, is scheduled for publication in November.
