•Dangote and late Ruth Otabor

Several celebrities have expressed condolences, concerns and anger following the death of Ruth Otabor, Phyna’s younger sister.

She died after sustaining severe injuries in an accident involving a truck linked to the Dangote Group near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State, reports The Nation.

The accident, which occurred on August 13, 2025, led to the amputation of her left leg at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital. She later succumbed to the complications.

Media personality Do2dtun berated the Dangote Group for lacking emotional intelligence and not visiting Ruth in the hospital.

He questioned why the company didn’t show empathy or take steps to address the issue, even for public relations purposes.

He wrote on X: “It’s either Dangote lacks emotional intelligence or everyone that surrounds him is useless. The moment this thing gets this bad, show up, show empathy; start fixing the problem even if it is “eye service”, just do it

“P.R > zero. Media/HR > zero. Board members > useless.”

Mercy Eke expressed sadness over Ruth’s passing and wished the Dangote Group had shown compassion and acted swiftly.

She wrote: “I only wish Dangote Group had listened and embraced Ruth as their own, had they acted swiftly with compassion, who knows what could have been?”

Toyin Lawani criticised Nigerians for lacking empathy and emotional intelligence, saying they often judge rather than offer support during difficult times.

She wrote on Instagram: “Happy Sunday everyone, Long time no video but this is for @unusualphyna I need you to Remain strong this period, Mute out any unnecessary opinions and focus on getting your sister the help she needs. Let anyone judge you if they are perfect.

“No need to respond to all this insensitive humans , Just focus on your Goal and keep making noise for her and don’t give up ,No human is God and what God have for you no man can stop, I pray to God you find favor and her kids also find Favor #AMEN I can’t even imagine the trauma her entire family is experiencing now.

“And to all of you thinking this is the time to drag her, one day you will find yourself in that position and the world will also remind you of your sins and guess what you will never find favor both on earth and in heaven”.
