Chief bridesmaid WANTED! Check out 5 things to know about this role

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 20, 2024 2532 Minutes read0

•Bride and chief bridesmaid

Being at the service of the bride on her big day and having her care entrusted into your hands, is an honour.

However, being a chief bridesmaid is not as easy as it may seem. Yes, there’s room for fun, but it’s not just about that, reports Nigerian Tribune.

Some challenges and tasks accompany the role that you have said yes to. These tasks might demand time and rapt attentiveness from you. They’ll require commitment and your willingness to show up. They might also require mental and physical strength.

This article discusses some of the things you’re getting yourself into, the moment you said ‘yes’ to the role.

1. Commitment

Saying yes to the role of a chief bridesmaid will require a high level of commitment and effectiveness from you. You are expected to dedicate significant hours to help the bride with planning towards making it a success. It could mean helping with picking her wedding dress, running basic errands, interacting with vendors on her behalf, it could also mean sharing tasks with her.

If there is going to be a bridal shower, then you might also need to lend a helping hand to its success. Including financial commitment.

2. Take charge

Being the chief bridesmaid means that you are supposed to offer guidance to the other bride’s maids and keep them posted about things that they need to know or do towards the success of the event. Taking charge would also mean double-checking that things are in place for the event and ensuring that everyone is up and doing.

3. Proffer timely solutions

It’s not rocket science and it’ll not always be a smooth ride. Things might not go as planned, so you need to put your thinking cap on and seek ways to proffer solutions in good time. You can seek help when necessary from the appropriate quarters.

4. Support

Being a pillar of support alongside other maids is an essential part of your role as a chief bridesmaid. You’ll pull your weight around physically, show support by lending a listening ear, reassure her that everything will be alright, be there for her emotionally and you can also work towards meeting the needs of the bride as and when due.

5. Management

As a chief bridesmaid, you need to put your management skills to good use towards the success of the event. You need people management skills, time management skills, project management skills, etc. The bulk of work as it relates to the bride is on you and you need to learn how to manage them as they occur.

Conclusively, it may look like a lot, but you’ll be fine and things will surely go well. Also, remember that your focus is on the bride and ensuring that things run smoothly.
