Court remands Katsina LG chair in prison custody over alleged murder

The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 26, 2024 2850 Minutes read0

A Magistrate court sitting in Katsina has remanded in prison custody, the chairman of Batagarawa Local Government in Katsina State, Mr Bala Garba Tsanni over alleged murder, abduction and culpable homicide.

The chairman and 11 others were arraigned before the court under sections 59, 249 and 189 of the Katsina penal code law, reports Nigerian Tribune.

They were accused of the alleged murder of the village head of Dabaibayawa, Late Alhaji Dikko Ahmed.

Earlier the Magistrate Abdulkarim Umar had directed the police to produce in court the accused on January 25, 2024.

The other 11 accused persons had been in prison custody for the past six months while the chairman was on bail throughout the period.

Presenting the accused before the court, the police said they have concluded investigation on the matter.

This, however, led the chief Magistrate to order for his remand in prison custody till March 7, 2024.
