A private driver employed by renowned Nigerian political activist, Hon Olawale Okunniyi, has allegedly run away with the owner’s vehicle, a Nitro Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Blue Colour with registration number AKD 767 JC.
The incident happened in Lagos last Friday morning.

•The missing vehicle
According to Okunniyi whom friends and colleagues fondly call Che, he asked the driver, a 36 year-old indigene of Osun State by name Bello Kazeem, to take the vehicle to the mechanic workshop located under Opebi Link Bridge in Ikeja to fix the lower arm, but up till the time of going to press the driver has not returned with the car.
In a chat today with The Frontier, Okunniyi said, “I have been looking for my driver and my vehicle since about 12noon last Friday. I sent him to pick my vehicle, a Nitro Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Blue Colour at about 10am that morning from a Mechanic Workshop in Anthony, Maryland by St Nicholas Hospital and when he called that he had picked it, I asked him to take the vehicle to another mechanic workshop under Opebi Link Bridge to fix the Lower arm that wasn’t properly fixed.
“He later called me at 11am that he was already there but that the mechanic wasn’t around. So I asked him to either wait for the mechanic called “small” by nickname or to proceed to meet him where he was.
“When I later called him at about 12 noon to find out about progress made, his phone was switched off. So after calling his line (+234 813 247 8938) frantically several times without luck, I decided to go and look for him at the mechanic workshop but to no avail as the mechanic said he hadn’t set his eyes on my driver and my vehicle that day”.
Continuing Okunniyi said, “I tried to call him again by night but his line was switched off and everybody I called said they didn’t see him.”

He added that he later decided to report the incident to the police.

“As we speak, the matter has been incidented at Isheri/Magodo police station as well as the State Police Command, Ikeja”.

Documents of engagement of the driver sighted by The Frontier show that Bello Kazeem was employed last month February 2025 through an agency known as Trinity Eagles Consult with Mr Michael David, a clothes seller, as guarantor.

When The Frontier called the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, a DSP, this evening, someone else picked the call and informed that the PPRO was not available as he was in a meeting with the Commissioner of Police.
Asked to comment on the matter, the call receiver said, “Sir, I cannot make any comment about it. It’s only the PPRO who can speak on it. I will inform him of your enquiry when he returns.”
