Edo guber: PDP issues certificate of return to Ighodalo tomorrow

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will tomorrow Presents Certificate of Return to its Edo State governorship candidate, Asuerinme Ighodalo.

Recall that Ighodalo had on Thursday won the primary election with 577 votes as announced by the returning officer in the PDP governorship primary and Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, reports Daily Independent.

Also recall that in the parallel primary which took place at the Benin residence of the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu on same day, the returning officer, Bartholomew Moses declared Shaibu the winner, saying he won “with over 300 votes.”

The PDP, has, however recognised the election of Ighodalo, declaring that the party will present him the Certificate of Return tomorrow.

PDP, in a statement by its spokesman, Hon. Debo Ologunagba said, “following the successful completion of Edo State governorship primary election and the ratification of the exercise by the Appeal Panel, the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hereby announces the Presentation of Certificate of Return to Dr. Asuerinme Ighodalo, the elected Candidate of our Party for the September 21, 2024 Governorship Election in Edo State.”
