#EndBadGovernance: Protesters block NNPC Refinery Road in Port Harcourt

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 6, 2024 2200 Minutes read0

•Protesters in Rivers

As the #EndBadGovernance nationwide protest enters Day 5 yesterday, a massive crowd of demonstrators blocked the Port Harcourt Refinery Junction, Akpajo Eleme.

President Bola Tinubu had addressed the protesters on Sunday. But the demonstrators in Port Harcourt are not pacified. The crowd yesterday was double that of the previous day and even had to split at some point.

One section headed straight to the NNPC Refinery Eleme and obstructed vehicular movement for hours.

They said the president did not address their demands, which include the right to control the natural resources in the state and the provision of jobs, among others.

The second set combed within the town and at some point was almost infiltrated by some touts who destroyed the traffic control cubicle at the JDB roundabout, Odili Road, Port Harcourt.

However, the presence of security operatives put things under control, preventing them from disrupting the peaceful protest procession.

Every route the protesters took experienced traffic jams with motorists using green leaves to signify solidarity with the protesters

They say the protest continues until the government meets their demands.
