The forum of the former Yobe State House of Assembly Candidates on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 election has reaffirmed their loyalty to the party.
The 2023 PDP candidates stated this while briefing newsmen in Damaturu, Yobe State.
The chairman of the Forum, Hon. Auroma Alhaji Mustapha, said the aspirants distanced themselves from social media reports which claimed they were joining the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), reports Daily Trust.
Hon. Mustapha said PDP has one member house of Assembly representing Bade Central who is standing as Minority leader in the chamber.
He said 18 aspirants of the party and one elected member reaffirmed their allegiance to the People Democratic People.
According to him, the forum expressed discontent over the defection of the former PDP aspirant and member of the Board of Trustees Hon Adamu Maina Waziri to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He further said despite Adamu Maina Waziri’s defection, the PDP still remains strong and stronger enough to defeat the ruling APC.
“Yobe people are yearning for change, they are not happy with APC’s administration, so their hope is PDP. So drastic steps have been taken to reposition the party,” he said.
In his remark, the only member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State House of Assembly Hon. Sadiq Yahaya (Attajiri) reaffirmed his royalty to the party.
He, however, urged the party to sanction disloyal members who worked against it in the last general election.
