The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has disclosed the identities of four officers detained for allegedly extorting N52,000 from the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN.

The incident reportedly occurred at Banex Plaza Junction in Wuse II, Abuja, where the officers allegedly abandoned their official duty posts to carry out unauthorised traffic enforcement.

The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, disclosed this while addressing journalists on Monday.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the officers were identified as ASP Clement Ehigala, ASP Sunday Okpe, Inspector Samuel Onoja, and Sergeant Yakubu Emmanuel.

According to the statement, the officers stopped a motorist on allegations of traffic violations and allegedly extorted N52,000 from him, unaware that the individual was the ICPC chairman.

“During the course of the illegal traffic duty, the officers stopped a motorist on the allegation of violating traffic regulations and extorted the sum of N52,000 from him.

“The victim was subsequently identified as the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN),” Adeh said.

She added that upon receiving the complaint, the Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate arrest of the officers and directed that they undergo an orderly room trial for abandoning their duty posts, engaging in unauthorised traffic enforcement, and alleged extortion.

The Command confirmed that disciplinary proceedings have commenced in line with police regulations, reiterating its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and zero tolerance for misconduct.
