The Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, Keith Heffern, has revealed that he enjoys watching the performances of Nigerian music stars, Rema and Burna Boy.
Heffern, during the U.S. 250th Independence Day Celebration, said he enjoyed watching the Afrobeats star perform at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremonies.
“Afrobeats has become a worldwide phenomenon, with artistes from Nigeria now topping charts in the United States and around the world. I especially enjoyed watching Rema and Burna Boy perform during the FIFA World Cup opening ceremonies. Rema’s “Goals” will be our anthem as we root for Team USA in tonight’s round of 32 match,” Heffern said.
The Chargé d’Affaires also noted that Motown is a powerful reminder of the global influence of American music and its enduring connections with Nigeria’s own vibrant creative community.
