I met inmate in Kirikiri Prison locked up since 1999 for stealing generator – Popular Tiktoker Seaking

•Olumide Ogunsanwo a.k.a. Seaking

Popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, widely known as Seaking, has recounted his experience in Kirikiri prison.

In a video shared online, he revealed the plight of the inmates, describing the facility as predominantly housing impoverished individuals who lack the resources to defend themselves.

Seaking narrated a case he encountered while incarcerated, revealing that he met two inmates who have been in prison since 1999 over a stolen generator, reports Vanguard.

According to him, one of the inmates was accused of stealing the generator, while the other was arrested for purchasing it.

“There is someone inside Kirikiri that is said to have stolen generator, him and the person he sold generator to, two of them are inside Kirikiri since 1999, calculate the years,” Seaking said in Pidgin English.

He expressed disbelief at the situation, questioning why the buyer of the stolen item was imprisoned alongside the alleged thief for such a prolonged period.

“Why is it that the person who used his money to buy the stolen generator is in prison since 1999?” he asked.

Seaking further lamented the socio-economic disparity evident in the prison, stating, “Poor Nigerians are who are in Kirikiri. When I entered there, I saw only poor and voiceless people there.”
