I’m in pains – Ibom Air passenger cries out after release

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 13, 2025 2871 Minutes read0

The Ibom Air passenger involved in a viral dispute with airline staff, Comfort Emmanson, has spoken out after her release from custody.

In an Instagram post, Emmanson thanked her supporters for their prayers, love, and support, while expressing her gratitude from the bottom of her heart.

“I’ve been released from prison, but I’m still in pains due to how I was treated.

“I just need some rest and medical treatment before I give out my own version of the event. Thank you so much, my lovely friends and supporters. I really appreciate y’all from the bottom of my heart. God bless you all. Thank you, my great God!!!” Emmanson said.

Emmanson’s release follows the federal government’s directive to withdraw charges against her, with Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo stating that the decision was made after reviewing the incident and considering appeals from well-meaning individuals and the remorse shown by those involved, reports Nigerian Tribune.

Keyamo also revealed that Ibom Air has agreed to lift the lifetime flying ban imposed on Emmanson.

The incident sparked public debate over airline passenger relations in Nigeria, with many demanding an official investigation into Emmanson’s treatment while in custody.

The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) had initially imposed a lifetime ban on Emmanson, but this was later lifted following Keyamo’s intervention.

Ibom Air has not yet issued a public response to Emmanson’s latest post, but earlier statements confirmed a customer service incident had taken place and was being handled internally.

The airline’s management emphasised that the well-being of all passengers and staff is a top priority.

As Emmanson recovers, the public awaits her full account of the events that led to the dispute and her subsequent arrest.
