The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has addressed the arrest of popular social media figure and convicted cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky.

In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, NIS spokesperson Kenneth Udo confirmed the incident, revealing that Bobrisky was detained at Seme Border while attempting to leave the country.

Udo stated, “In line with its mandate to safeguard the borders, the NIS apprehended Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, at Seme Border during an attempt to exit the country.”

The Service further noted that Bobrisky is a person of interest due to ongoing matters of public concern.

He is currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

The NIS also reassured the public that it remains committed to carrying out its border control duties in a professional and civil manner.
