Jamie Vardy apologises to Leicester City fans after relegation

•Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy

Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy has issued a heartfelt apology to fans following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, describing the 2025 season as a “total embarrassment” and a “s**t show.”

In a statement posted today via X, Vardy expressed deep disappointment over the club’s performance, admitting that words could not fully capture his feelings of anger and sadness.

“At this point, I don’t even know what to say. No words I have can ever express my feelings of anger and sadness with the way this season has gone. There are no excuses,” he said.

The 2025 campaign marks Leicester’s second relegation from the top flight in three seasons. The team also made unwanted Premier League history by going nine consecutive home games without scoring a single goal.

Vardy, who has been with Leicester through many highs, including their 2015/16 title-winning season, acknowledged that the entire club had failed.

“Collectively, as players and as a club, we failed. There is simply no hiding, and I refuse to entertain any suggestion of doing so,” he stated.

Reflecting on his long career at the club, Vardy noted how painful the current situation is for him and the supporters alike.

“Having been at this club for so long, we’ve experienced so many highs and successes — and this season has been nothing but miserable and for me personally, a total embarrassment. It hurts, and I know you’re feeling it too,” he said.

Addressing the fans directly, Vardy apologised for the team’s performance and the way the season ended.

“To the fans: I’m sorry. Sorry we haven’t performed, and sorry we end the 2025 season with such a s**t show,” he added.
