The Labour Party has lost its Imo State senator, Ezenwa Onyewuchi, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He represents Imo East.
The defection was formally announced on the floor of the Senate today by the President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, reports Nigerian Tribune.
In his letter to the Senate, Onyewuchi alluded to a ‘crisis’ in his former party as the key reason for his action.
Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma, led a delegation of politicians to the Senate to witness the defection.
Kogi Reps member, Idris, dumps ADC for APC

Meanwhile, the member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu at the House of Representatives, Arc. Salman Idris has defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Arc. Salman in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and read on the floor of the Green Chamber, said the move followed careful consultation with critical stakeholders in his Federal Constituency.
According to him, the move also followed calls by his constituents to align with the political party that will best accommodate our collective political values and principles.
The letter reads, “I wish to formally notify The Rt. Honourable Speaker and respected colleagues that due to the National Leadership crisis within African Democratic Congress. I have resolved, after careful consideration and consultation with critical stakeholders, political associates, and constituents in Kabba-Bunu/ljumu Federal Constituency and Kogi State at large to move from The African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) with immediate effect.”
“As a true representative of the people, I believe that this defection has become exigent owing to the increased call from my constituents to align myself with the political party that will best accommodate our collective political values and principles.”
