Ogun State Assembly Minority Leader Lukman Olalekan Adeleye has appointed Adisa Isiaka, a deaf and dumb individual, as a Special Assistant to his office.

Announcing the appointment in Abeokuta, Adeleye, who represents Odogbolu State Constituency, said, “I decided to appoint a deaf and dumb individual from the Ogun Central Senatorial District to call attention to the needs of the physically challenged persons and the necessity to protect them.” He believes his action will help restore the dignity of the people living with disabilities in the society, reports Daily Sun.

Adeleye urged Nigerians to “specially protect the physically challenged individuals in the society and be willing to give them a sense of belonging at all times.”

The appointment letter, personally signed by Adeleye and obtained by our correspondent, instructs Isiaka to resume duties on May 1st, 2024.

The letter reads, in part: “I have the pleasure to inform you that you have been appointed as my Special Assistant, based on our previous discussion. The appointment is based on your knowledge, experience, hard work, honesty, and loyalty. I expect you to utilize these qualities to face the challenges of your office and help us achieve our goals.”

The appointment takes immediate effect. Your duties will include the usual duties of the office and any other duties assigned to you. This appointment may be terminated with one month’s written notice or one month’s salary in lieu of notice. The appointment will automatically end when the 10th assembly’s tenure concludes in June 2027.

Adeleye has previously appointed ten aides to promote political participation and empowerment among his constituents.
