Manchester United are keen on signing the River Plate midfielder Franco Mastantuono.

According to ESPN via SportWitness, the Red Devils will face competition from Spanish giants Barcelona for the 16-year-old Argentine.

Mastatuono is regarded as one of the finest young talents in South American football and he has a bright future ahead of him. He could develop into a quality long-term option for the Red Devils with the right guidance.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United follow up on their interest with an offer to sign the midfielder at the end of the season. The 16-year-old could be attracted to join one of the biggest clubs in the world and the opportunity to move to the Premier League can be hard to turn down.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are keen on the player as well and they are one of the biggest clubs around. The Spanish giants have a strong contingent of South American players and Mastantuono could be attracted to the idea of moving to Spain, which would be more culturally suitable destination for him.

Manchester United have an outstanding pool of young talent at the club and they will look to add to it. They are looking to put together a formidable squad for the future and it is no surprise that they are looking to snap up the best young talents around the world.

They have a proven track record when it comes to nurturing young players and they could help the 16-year-old fulfil his tremendous potential in the coming seasons.
