Man’s house burnt down for allegedly attacking suspected rapist of his daughter

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 22, 2025 2111 Minutes read0

The Gombe State Police Command says it is investigating an incident involving assault and arson that occurred in the Bojude community, Kwami Local Government Area of the state.

Police spokesman in the state, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, who disclosed this in a statement yesterday, said the incident happened on October 18, 2025, following an allegation of sexual assault.

According to the statement, Mr. Samuel Doka, a resident of Bojude, reported that his 16-year-old daughter informed him that a man identified as Lukman Musa (28), of Bura Kosuma Quarters, Bojude, allegedly lured her to his residence and had carnal knowledge of her.

The police said Mr. Doka, upon hearing the allegation, took the law into his own hands by attacking the suspect with a sharp object, leaving him with a deep cut on the head.

“In the aftermath of the assault, an irate mob stormed Mr. Doka’s house and set it ablaze. Thankfully, no lives were lost,” the statement read.

DSP Abdullahi added that a team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Bojude Division, quickly responded to the scene.

The injured suspect was taken to the Cottage Hospital, Bojude, for medical attention, while Mr. Doka and his family were rescued and moved to the police station for their safety.

He confirmed that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has taken over the case for a discreet investigation.

The Command appealed to residents to remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their own hands, assuring that justice will be served in accordance with the rule of law.
