•Raheem Okoya

Raheem Okoya, son of billionaire businessman Chief Razaq Okoya, has issued a public apology for his involvement in a viral video that showed him and his brother, Wahab abusing naira notes.

The video sparked widespread criticism and led to the detention of a mobile police officer who appeared in the clip, reports The Nation.

Raheem claimed his intentions were pure and naive, saying that he didn’t mean to cause any harm or trouble.

He asked for forgiveness and support, stating he wasn’t aware of the consequences of his actions.

In a statement posted today via X, Raheem said, “To the Nigerian people, my actions were not to cause any trouble or harm. My intentions were pure and naive. I ask for your forgiveness and support in this situation, as I had no intention to raise such an alarm. I wasn’t fully aware of the consequences of my action.”

The Nigeria Police Force has condemned the officer’s involvement in the video, calling it unethical.

The officer has been detained for disciplinary action, according to Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

“The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of the Lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action. The involvement of the policeman has been condemned, as it’s unethical. We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police. Thanks”, he wrote.
