The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 18, 2024 1,0371 Minutes read0

The Orientation programme for the newly admitted students of the School of Continuing Education and Professional Studies (SCEPS), University of Uyo (UniUyo), has been scheduled for Monday, January 22, 2024.

This was made known this morning in a chat with the Director of SCEPS, Prof Lawrence Etim.

Etim informed The Frontier that the event will take place at the Onyema Ugochukwu Hall, Town Campus of the University. He expressed his appreciation to the Vice Chancellor of the federal university, Prof Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, for not only approving the programme but also supporting it.

Speaking about the reason for the programme, Etim said, “The orientation programme is aimed at helping the new students of SCEPS to become familiar with the school, acclimate to the university environment, understand academic expectations, build a sense of community, become knowledgeable about campus resources, support services and extra curricular opportunities; by so doing, forster the new students’ seamless transition into university life.”

In an answer to a question, Etim said that he has personally selected a cohort of experts who will take turn to lecture the new students during the event which will start from 1 pm and will be attended by the Vice Chancellor and members of his management team including the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof Aniekan Offiong; the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof Sister Anthonia Essien; the Registrar and Secretary to Senate, Mrs Blossom Okorie.

Others who are expected to attend the event include, but not limited, to Deans of Faculties, professors and top administrative staff of the institution.

It is expected that about two thousand new students will attend the ceremony.

SCEPS which was established in 2001, offers a plethora of academic programmes and degrees (bachelors, master’s and PhD), diplomas and certificates.
