Opponents plotting anti-govt protest in Abuja – Wike’s supporters allege

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 8, 2024 2440 Minutes read0

•Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike

A group of supporters of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, have raised allegations that some political opponents in Rivers State are planning to sponsor members of the Civil Society Organisations to stage an anti-government protest in Abuja next week.

Speaking under the banner of “Wike Generation Next,” the group said the protest is aimed at discrediting the recent court judgements on the Rivers State appropriation bill and the leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly, reports Channels TV.

The leader of the group, Okazu Powers, accused Wike’s opponents of attempting to manipulate public opinion against the judiciary and President Bola Tinubu, despite the President’s effort to address the political crisis in Rivers State.

Powers noted that the court judgements relating to the appropriation bill and the Assembly’s leadership was fair and unbiased.

Powers also stressed that the alleged protest would not deter the judiciary from standing by the law, while advising those allegedly recruiting the CSOs to direct resources for the development of the state.
