•A truck fire incident in Lagos

A containerised vehicle caught fire on the Ojota Bridge near the Old Toll Gate this morning, causing pandemonium.

According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the incident occurred around 8:24 a.m., and emergency responders were immediately deployed.

“A containerised vehicle has caught fire on top of Ojota Bridge, near the Old Toll Gate. The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority and LASTMA have been notified, and emergency responders are on the scene,” LASTMA said in a post on its official X account.

Firefighters are currently working to extinguish the flames, while the LASTMA Rescue and Recovery Team has been deployed to manage vehicle removal and traffic control.

“A high-capacity tow truck is also on site to facilitate the removal process,” the post added.

Authorities advised motorists to exercise caution and follow traffic directives from officials.

“Currently, traffic flow is not significantly impacted. However, motorists are advised to prioritise their safety and the safety of others on the road,” LASTMA said.

Officials said updates would be provided as the situation develops.

Recall that a high-capacity commercial bus caught fire on the Third Mainland Bridge yesterday afternoon, causing significant traffic disruptions for commuters travelling inbound towards the Iyana Oworo area of Lagos State.
