The Ondo State Police Command confirmed today the murder of a commercial motorcyclist, Nazifi Ibrahim, by a suspected armed robber.

Ibrahim was reportedly shot dead by a passenger he had picked up in Ore community, Odigbo Local Government Area, yesterday evening, reports The PUNCH.

Following the attack, the assailant allegedly made off with the motorcycle.

According to a community source, the incident occurred at approximately 10:40 pm yesterday.

The source added that the killing has caused considerable tension in the area, as Ibrahim was well-known and respected among his colleagues.

The source explained that the deceased had taken the passenger to Alafia Street in Ore, where he was ambushed and brutally murdered.

“We do not know what transpired between the deceased and the unknown assailant before he was shot,” the source said.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident and stated that the command had launched an investigation.

Ayanlade said, “An incident occurred in Ore, and upon receiving the information, the Divisional Police Officer in Ore and his team proceeded to the scene, where they discovered the victim’s lifeless body and noted that his motorcycle had been stolen.

“The command has initiated an immediate manhunt for those responsible, and the investigation is ongoing. The victim has since been buried according to Islamic rites.”
