PDP, APC clash ahead of Osun 2026 governorship election

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 24, 2025 1092 Minutes read0

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against violent confrontations and reckless utterances ahead of its primary election.

The PDP expressed deep concern that the in-fighting within the APC is fast degenerating into physical attacks and public unrest, describing it as a dangerous development capable of undermining the peace in the state, reports Daily Trust.

The PDP State chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, said the situation in the Osun APC has clearly shown a total breakdown of leadership and internal discipline within the party.

But Osun APC said the PDP chairman was disoriented by the disintegration of his party at all levels.

Bisi noted that the state government had long warned that the opposition APC could become a source of crisis if left unchecked, stressing that recent developments have unfortunately confirmed this fear.

According to him, “What is happening within the Osun APC today is not about democracy or service; it is a battle of desperation among politicians who have lost every sense of restraint and responsibility. Their public conduct has become a direct threat to the peace and stability of our dear state.

“What we are seeing now are open threats, violent outbursts, and physical attacks, not politics.

“Before they turn Osun into a battlefield over internal ambitions, we call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the national leader of the APC, to urgently call his Osun chapter to order,” he said.

In his reaction, Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, said, “Osun PDP is being haunted by the obvious maladministration which has become the hallmark of Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration as it has recorded abysmal failure in all the facets of governance.

“There was nothing under the sun that could have warranted the outburst contained in the diatribe rolled out by the pathologically loquacious state chairman of the ruling PDP, Mr Sunday Bisi, where he falsely accused the APC chieftains and members of promoting crisis in the state today which has no other name than a figment of the imagination of the peddlers.

“Who else has the characteristic of violence if not the state chapter of the PDP which records of violent incidents are numerous of which the latest was the arrest of a political thug of the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW) extraction in Osogbo with two guns and several bullets few days ago?”
