•Late Abdulmutalib Sadiq

Suspected phone snatchers have stabbed a young man, Abdulmutalib Sadiq to death and went away with his mobile phone.

The deceased was reportedly attacked along Old Secretariat Road, Minna, Niger State capital around 8pm on Sunday where he had gone to visit his fiancée at 123 Quarters, reports Daily Trust.

The deceased was said to have fixed his wedding with his fiancée for January 17, 2025 before the incident.

Sadiq was said to have died after he was rushed to Minna General Hospital where he gave up the ghost.

His friend, Alhassan Mohammed said the deceased, a resident of the Bright Area of Minna, was stabbed several times by his assailants.

Similarly, a corpse of another yet to be identified man was reportedly found at the Julius Bagger Drainage at 123 Quarters, Minna.

Residents said the body was found in early hours of yesterday without injuries.

Residents decried the rising incidences of stabbing and phone snatching in Minna, the state capital, and called on the authorities to take action to protect innocent citizens.

The Spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun did not respond to a message that was sent to him about the incident.
