Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a crime suspect with firearms and substance suspected to be Indian Hemp.

This was disclosed today in a statement made available to The Frontier and signed by the spokesperson of the Command, Timfon John, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), police personnel, while on a routine stop-and-search at Ibiono Ibom area of the state, intercepted a motorcycle rider conveying a passenger. When the duo were stopped and searched, an English Baretta Pistol with defaced breech number was found in the possession of the passenger.
John added that large quantities of weed suspected to be Cannabis Sativa were also found concealed in the suspect’s rain boot.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed that the firearms belonged to one of his friends.
“Investigation is ongoing to nab other members of the gang. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation,” said John.
Continuing, she said, “The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, CP Waheed Ayilara, reiterates the Command’s unwavering commitment towards continually making Akwa Ibom safe and secure.
“He also urges residents to always report any suspicious persons or movement to the nearest police station.”

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in its continuous and determined efforts towards making the state constantly safe and secured, have arrested one Samuel Bassey Young ‘M’ native of Ikot Obong village for unlawful possession of firearms and substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.
The Police Officers, while on a routine stop and search at Ibiono Ibom area of the state intercepted a motorcycle rider conveying a passenger.
When the duo were stopped and searched an English Baretta Pistol with defaced breech number was found in the possession of the passenger.
Also found was large quantities of weed suspected to be Cannabis Sativa concealed in his rain boot. These items were all recovered and the suspect taken into custody.
Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed that the firearms belonged to one of his friends.
Investigation is ongoing to nab other members of the gang. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
