Recruitment: Civil defence board schedules CBT for shortlisted applicants

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced that it will soon conduct a computer-based test (CBT) for candidates shortlisted in its ongoing recruitment exercise across the country.

The announcement was made In a public notice signed by the Secretary to the Board, Major General (Rtd.) A.M. Jibril.

CDCFIB expressed appreciation to applicants for their patience during the selection process and advised them to visit its official portal to confirm their eligibility and the details of their examination centres and dates, reports The Guardian.

The Board emphasised that only applicants who successfully applied for positions in any of the four services under its supervision the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) will be able to check their status online.

“Shortlisted candidates will be contacted shortly with further instructions. Please monitor your email and text messages over the coming weeks for notifications. We also encourage you to regularly check the portal and social media handles for important updates,” they stated.

The statement also urged applicants to rely solely on the official portal, https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng to avoid falling victim to fraud.

It warned against dealing with fraudulent individuals or unauthorised websites claiming to offer recruitment assistance, reiterating that the CDCFIB does not charge any fees for participation in the recruitment process.

The forthcoming CBT is part of the final stages of the recruitment exercise aimed at filling vacancies across the four paramilitary agencies.

Recall that the CDCFIB recruitment exercise was initially scheduled for June 26, but was postponed twice to July 14 and then July 21 due to persistent portal failures.

It officially closed on August 11, 2025, after the August 4 deadline was extended by a week following technical glitches.

The exercise targeted Nigerian citizens between 18 and 35 years, who meet minimum height requirements (1.65 m for men, 1.60 m for women), have clean criminal records, and are mentally and physically fit.

The minimum educational qualification was stated to be at least SSCE with credits, while degrees in fields like law, engineering, medicine, or technical trades were encouraged.

CDCFIB has, in recent years, adopted a more transparent and digital-based recruitment process to ensure merit-based selection.

The board also said it received about 1.9 million applications across all states of the federation for its ongoing recruitment exercise, with Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, and Katsina States recording the highest number of applicants.
