Rivers Sole Administrator Abas denies recruitment reports of 10,000 workers

•Sole Administrator for Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-ete Ibas (retd.)

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media that he had approved the recruitment of 10,000 personnel into the state civil service.

The clarification came through a statement issued yesterday in Port Harcourt by the acting Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. Inyingi Brown, who described the viral claim as fake and urged the public to disregard it.

According to the statement, the false announcement—which claimed the administrator had sanctioned the mass recruitment and that an application portal would open by midnight on Sunday, April 13, 2025, was fraudulently attributed to the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, reports The PUNCH.

“We wish to categorically inform the people of Rivers State and the general public to ignore the fake announcement,” the statement read.

“Appropriate information will be released by the Rivers State Civil Service Commission when it falls due.”

Brown reiterated that any official communication on civil service employment would come directly from the relevant state agencies and not through unverified online platforms.
