Sad as mother of “mummy calm down” commits suicide

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 8, 2023 1,6561 Minutes read0

•Late Mrs. Babalola and her famous “mummy calm down” son

Mrs. Toluige Olokobi Babalola, a mother of three, whose son went viral three years ago, for screaming “Mummy calm down” repeatedly, has reportedly committed suicide.

She was reported to have taken her life in Benin City, Edo State, leaving behind her husband and her three children.

An X user whose handle is Samuel@sammydo214, shared the sad news and revealed that he was at the scene on Monday afternoon, Nov. 6, and said she took her life without speaking to anyone about her problems. It was reported that the ugly incident happened in Benin.

As gathered from his post, “The woman in the viral Mummy Calm Down video has just committed suicide here in Benin. She refused to speak to anyone about her problems. She left 3 kids for her husband including the popular ‘Mummy Calm down’ boy.

It would be recalled that a video showing the little boy on his knees frantically begging his mother after offending her went viral in 2020.

In the video, the little boy was seen crying and begging his mom to ‘calm down and rest a little’ before taking any action against him.

The then 4-year-old kid became a social media sensation after the Mummy Calm down video went viral.

It elicited the attention of many, including Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

An Abuja-based real estate outfit, T Pumpy Concept Limited signed the young boy as one of its brand ambassadors.

Two years after the incident, Toluige is alleged to have taken her life in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.

According to Samuel, the woman had been battling with some problems which she refused to speak to anyone about.
