Shun political science, history, others in varsities – Controversial preacher, Odumeje tells Nigerians

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 2, 2025 1862 Minutes read0

•Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere a.k.a. Odumeje

Controversial Anambra-based cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has advised prospective university students to avoid studying political science, history, microbiology, library information science and sociology.

Odumeje disclosed this in a viral video on X today.

The cleric, known for his dramatic preaching style, described the courses as useless, especially if the people going to study them are not from rich backgrounds, reports The PUNCH.

He said, “All these poor people if your father does not have any connection in politics or government, don’t go to school and begin to study political science, history, microbiology and sociology. These are useless courses. What are you doing with them?

“Another one is Library Information Science. It is better for you to go and learn barbing than study that course. We don’t waste our time and money on nonsense now. For education to be a blessing in your family, let the course you study in school be meaningful. That’s why we have a lot of jobless people.

“When you see educated people in business, you will know. Please avoid these courses, and don’t waste four to five years in universities. I am here to guide you as a prophet.”

This is not the first time Odumeje has made a controversial claim. Recently, he hinted about his intention to run for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027 without a political party, saying the country needs young, digital-minded leaders and “not old cargoes.”

Odumeje announced a sermon yesterday, a video of which has since gone viral on social media.

However, he did not disclose the political party under which he plans to contest.

He said, “Both past and present leaders have failed to move Nigeria forward due to their age and lack of vision. The country needs a vibrant, resilient, and forward-thinking leader like me to usher in real progress.

“We need a young leader in this country, and I think I am coming out. We need a young leader as a president, a digital leader, not old cargoes. Am I sure you hear me? I think I will come out, I will come out for president.”

He asked his congregation if they were ready for his presidency, promising to introduce modern development and a digital way of life.

“Are you ready for me? Odumeje for president? Are you ready for me? Because I know what you need. I know what you want. I want to construct a main road called Citadel for you. I want to give you a modern life, a digital life,” Odumeje said.
