The FrontierThe FrontierDecember 9, 2023 4740 Minutes read0

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Federal Court of Appeal, sitting in Abuja will today laid the rest the election petition against two former governors of Sokoto State, Aliyu Wamakko and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

This is contained in a statement released by the court and made available to our correspondent by the public relations of the PDP in the state, Hassan Sanyinlawal.

The two former governors who were declared winners in the election also won their respective cases at the Elections Petitions Tribunal in the state.

Recall that the duo of Wamakko and Tambuwal were declared winners in the 2023 general elections as Senators representing Sokoto North and Sokoto South senatorial district respectively.

While Wamakko’s victory, who is also the leader of the All Progressive Congress in the state was challenged in the court by the immediate past deputy governor of the state, and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya.

Tambuwal, the PDP candidate in the election on the other hand was dragged to the Tribunal by the immediate past Senator representing the district, Ibrahim Danbaba Danbuwa.
