Super Eagles suspend boycott, set to resume training

•Super Eagles in a warm up exercise

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have officially suspended their boycott and are set to resume training, just one day ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup playoff against Gabon, the team’s media unit confirmed today.

The announcement comes after all pending issues between players, officials, and the relevant football authorities were reportedly resolved, clearing the way for the national team to focus fully on their upcoming encounter, reports Daily Trust.

The playoff match is scheduled for tomorrow at 5:00 pm, with the Super Eagles also slated to hold a training session at 5:00 pm in Rabat, Morocco today, as they finalise preparations.

The recent standoff by the team had raised concerns about their readiness and threatened to cast a shadow over Nigeria’s qualification campaign for next year’s FIFA World Cup. Since arriving in Rabat, the squad has only trained once, on Monday, November 10, with 16 players present.

With the boycott now lifted, attention turns to how the team will regain full momentum and tactical sharpness ahead of the high-stakes clash against Gabon.
