Tailor stabs ‘brother’ to death over stabiliser

A 23-year old tailor, Faith Adeola, has stabbed his ‘street brother’ Gbenga Olotu, to death over theft of a stabiliser.

The incident occurred at Ikese community, Oka-Akoko, Akoko North West area of Ondo State, reports The Nation.

Witnesses said Adeola and Olotu were friends who regarded themselves as ‘street brothers’

An argument was said to have arisen between them over theft of a stabiliser.

The witnesses said the deceased attempted to stab Adeola and his wife with a knife but Adeola wrestled the knife and stabbed Olotu on the chest.

Olotu was rushed to the General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Adeola was arrested and charged to court on one count of murder.

According to the charge, “ Faith Adeola ‘m’, on May 10, 2025, at about 2:30, at Ikese community, Oka-Akoko, in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did unlawfully stabbed one Olotu Gbenga ‘m’ a.k.a. “Zagazar” with a knife on his chest and also hit him with wood on his body which resulted to his death”.

Plea of the defendant was not taken.

Prosecuting Counsel, Folasade Adeyemi, prayed the court to remand the defendant to the correctional centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.

Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. R.I. Adelakin, adjourned the case to May 29, 2025 for further hearing.

She ordered remand of the defendant to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Akure.
