Teacher remanded for flogging 8-year-old pupil to death

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 26, 2024 3500 Minutes read0

The primary school teacher, who flogged her eight-year old pupil to death at Landmark International School Mgbakwu, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been remanded in a Correctional Centre.

The suspect, Mrs Faith Nwoye, was remanded after hearing of the matter in a Special Court handling women and children related matters in the state, reports The Nation.

The matter was charged to court following petition to Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, against the school’s proprietor, Mrs Promise Iloh and Nwoye by Mr Ojiakor Okonkwo.

The suspects were invited to explain what led to the brutalisation of Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, who later died.

The matter was eventually handed over to the police for investigation.

Commissioner for Education had directed immediate closure of the school, citing its illegal operations.

“As soon as the police is done, this teacher would face other institutions against child rights.

“She is going to have the full wrath of the law brought upon her over her actions,” she said.
