•Boko Haram terrorists
Suspected Boko Haram members have abducted the newly elected Vice Chairman and two councillors of Biu Local Government Area, along Kamuya- Buni Yadi road, Borno State.
Sources close to their families identified the chairman as Alhaji Saidu. The two councillors are representing Zarawuyaku and Miringa wards, reports Daily Trust.
The abductees were elected into office five days ago, during last Saturday’s local government council election.
One of the sources revealed that the incident, which took place yesterday evening, also involved other travellers in a Hizba hummer bus.
DG, NYSC come to our aid
“It’s true, Alhaji Saidu and the two councillors were abducted by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists between Kamuya village and Buni Yadi road.
“They were abducted alongside some unidentified passengers travelling in an Hizbah vehicle en route from Potiskum town of Yobe State to Biu.
“One of the councillors abducted was the immediate past Vice Chairman of Biu local government. We are appealling to the government and our security agencies to intensify efforts in rescuing them and other captives safely,” he said.
Efforts to speak to the police spokesman, Borno State Command, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, were unsuccessful as his phone could not be reached. He did not reply to the text messages sent to him either.
