BAMIDELE POPOOLA, Lagos reporting
Foremost Lagos-based online newspaper, The Frontier, has launched a new website this morning.
A statement signed by the Publisher/Editor-in-chief, Amb. Sunny Okim, says the new website is one of the many innovations lined up to ensure that readers of The Frontier enjoy the best services they could ever obtain in the media industry across the globe.
“We are excited to announce the launch of our new website www.thefrontierng.com this morning, Thursday, October 26, 2023. Our webmaster has been working around the clock for the last couple of days to deliver an excellent website, so our esteemed readers can enjoy the best possible user experience.
Listing the special features in the new website, Okim said, “Some of the features of the new websites are fully responsive design, meaning the website elements, that is texts, images, videos, will automatically adjust according to the screen size of whatever device the website is being visited with.
“There is also Day/Night mode switching. This is a type of display showing text and images on a mobile device or computer screen, that uses a black or dark background with lighter text. Night mode eliminates blue light, which can interfere with a healthy night sleep.
“Another special feature on our new website is a Built-in Minutes read, which is an estimate of how long it will take one to read a particular story in minutes.
“There is also Autoload article on scroll, this is a feature that automatically loads the next post when the user is scrolling down to the bottom of an article which helps to improve the loading time of the site because only the viewing portion is loaded,” he said.
Speaking further on the new website, the astute journalist who is fondly referred to as The Grandmaster by colleagues and friends for being in the forefront of projecting and promoting the Nigerian movie industry called Nollywood, from its early days, and making stars from it, said: “We have also added both video and picture sections to the website. With these sections, our esteemed readers around the world can send in captivating events happening in their vicinity and it will be posted and the sender will be duly credited.”
Announcing special reward for readers, Okim said, “As a way of rewarding our esteemed readers, we will be offering free advertising placement for one month beginning today. This is kind of giving back to the society. The Frontier commenced publishing on March 5 last year, but you cannot imagine the high level of patronage we have received within this past year and some months. Hardly can any new publication enjoy such a high level of patronage, from readers, advertisers and promoters. We are most grateful first to God, then to our readers and advertisers. That is why we will run free adverts for one month to say thank you for patronising us. Moreover, with the new website, the days of glitches, which used to disturb some of our readers when trying to read the stories, are over. What else can we say?”
