UN ambassador asks lawmaker to repair Anambra road

The FrontierThe FrontierDecember 28, 2023 6201 Minutes read0

•Tony Nwoye

A Nigerian-born United Nations Eminent Peace Ambassador, Ikenna Offor, has appealed to the senator representing Anambra North senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Tony Nwoye, to repair the deplorable Ikenna Offor Road, off Anam Street, in Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Offor made this appeal in a press statement yesterday, after he visited his residence for the Yuletide, adding that the ever busy road has been in deplorable condition for years without attention from any elected lawmaker from the constituency.

Insisting that the road kept deteriorating over the years, thereby causing more difficulty for road users, Offor said that it is imperative to include the road among other constituency projects the lawmaker has mapped out for execution now that the dry season is here.

He said, “The road has become so deplorable that it required an urgent intervention from a thoroughbred elected representative like Senator Nwoye. The road falls within his constituency and jurisdiction. It is imperative that his attention is drawn towards it, so that he knows the plight of road users on that axis.

“Although, it is quite commendable the efforts of the lawmaker in handling constituency projects within his jurisdiction so far since he assumed office as a distinguished senator in the red chamber of the National Assembly, without giving considerations to political party affiliations.

“As a resident in the constituency and a UN Eminent Peace Ambassador designated as global diplomat, whose street is named after him, it will be of great assistance to have good road network within a place I call my home.”
