Why BBNaija should be banned — Poly students leader

The FrontierThe FrontierSeptember 9, 2024 2621 Minutes read0

The Senate President of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), Comrade Adeniji Boluwaji Temitope, has stressed the need for a swift intervention by the federal government to place a ban on the BBNaija reality show.

This was contained in a statement signed by Comrade Temitope, with a copy made available to the press in Kano, reports Nigerian Tribune.

In a paper titled “A Sane Society: BB9ja Show Should Be Banned,” he said, “We understand that some social factors significantly influence students and youth in mindset restitution to abnormalities, and BB9ja shows stand tall amidst these social vices.”

He added that, “After careful study and observation of what the BB9ja show stands for in the entertainment industry, it reveals that it is neither an academic nor political, nor moral-oriented show.”

Temitope stated, “Since its purpose is far-fetched from values upheld and capacity development, the BBNaja show should be concluded as a blue film aiming at promoting immorality in all ramifications.”

Africa is known to be a values-upholding society across the globe, and specifically in Nigeria. This suggests that no rational Nigerian will support the immorality show called BB9ja.

However, he acknowledged, “It’s obvious that there was already decay in our culture, tradition, and morals before the introduction of this immorality show.”

He further stated, “Yes, there is, which amounts to other factors, but we should not be on the edge of contributing to the continuous degradation of our heritage.”

According to Temitope, “A wise man says, ‘Don’t create a problem for the solution; rather, be part of the solution if you can’t provide one.’”

As history records the quality of our cultural heritage and uniqueness years back, it often seems like a nightmare to us, considering the present state of Nigeria, Temitope said.

He urged state governments, local governments, and traditional rulers not to relent in their efforts to fight immorality and insanity in society.

Temitope emphasised, “We appreciate all efforts of the government (at all levels), traditional rulers, corporate organizations, and patriotic citizens toward restoring the sanity and dignity of our dear nation, Nigeria.”

In conclusion, he called on the federal government to act swiftly in preserving the nation’s heritage by placing a ban on the BBNaija show.
