MTN Nigeria Foundation has announced a disbursement of N114m in scholarships to 380 students, including visually-impaired students, across Nigerian universities for 2024.

The foundation has also inducted 380 graduates into the MTN Scholarship Alumni Association, reports The PUNCH.

At an award ceremony held today in Abuja, the foundation granted scholarships to students with excellent academic records.

The scholarship equips the recipients to study any course from entry-level to final year, and it will be renewed annually if further requirements are met.

In her opening address, the Director, MTN Nigeria Foundation, Aishatu Sadauki, stated that the foundation is driven by the belief that individuals can lead a successful life, regardless of their backgrounds.

“The foundation has been driven by the thought and the belief that every individual, regardless of their backgrounds or socio-economic stages, can be a trailblazer, problem-solver, and visionary,” she stated.

She also expressed the foundation’s intentions to fully support the recipients as they strive for academic excellence.

“We are here to support you as you strive for academic excellence, and we will use every tool in our arsenal to do so,” she said.

Speaking to the recipients of the award, Aishatu said, “Please build meaningful connections and gain the knowledge and skills you need to rise and give back to your society, you have shown that obstacles are not roadblocks, but detours that lead to greatness.

“Remember, our Yello family believes in you and your ability to make a difference to the world around you.”

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, was represented by Prof. Chris Piwuna, and JAMB registrar represented by Basira Agbabiaka.
