Two persons have been confirmed dead while two others were hospitalised in Isanlu, headquarters of Yagba East council area of Kogi State after drinking concoction.

The event happened on Tuesday evening when the four of them decided to experiment on combining some fruits and roots, reports Vanguard.

It was gathered from one of the youth leaders of the area that the four persons simply identified as Okiribo, Samuel Folorunsho, Shola Pempe and one others were renowned for their “drinking prowess.”

The youth leader, Segun Ariyo, said the four of them mixed Jimson Weeds and high plum fruits, known in the local parlance as “gegemu and obo fruits” and drank it to test their drinking capacity.

He said few minutes after, Okiribo complained of stomach upset and decided to go into the nearby bush to defecate.

He said: “It was there he died. While Samuel Folorunsho also complained of same stomach upset and went home and died.

“The two others were lucky as they were rushed to ECWA hospital in Makutu Isanlu. It was when Shola Pempe gain consciousness that he narrated what they drank to the people.”

However, the fourth person who could not be identified was said to have been an indigene of Kwara State who sojourned to the community a few years back.

Chairman of the council area, Mr. Dare Venza when contacted said he’s on transit and will comment on the issue once he settled from his journey.
