2 suspects nabbed over missing 16-year-old girl

The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 27, 2026 1301 Minutes read0

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two female suspects, identified as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, over a case of a missing 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma, in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

This was disclosed in a press statement issued today by the command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

Ikenga added that police operatives attached to Ozubulu Division, acting on technologically driven information, arrested the suspects yesterday, reports The PUNCH.

He added that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to being involved in the case of the minor and disclosed that the victim is currently in Ghana.

The statement read in part, “Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to Ozubulu Division, acting on a technologically-driven information on the evening of January 26, 2026, arrested two female suspects, Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, over a reported case of a missing 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the State.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being involved in the disappearance of the minor and disclosed that the victim is currently in Ghana.

“Given the above, the Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu, directs immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for discreet and comprehensive investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the relocation of the girl and identify any other person(s) involved. Further updates will be provided as the investigations progress.”

It was earlier reported on January 18 reported that the Anambra State Police Command had arrested a 28-year-old man, Friday Akonobi, in connection with the abduction and alleged ritual killing of a six-year-old girl in a case linked to an Enugu-based suspected native doctor, Obieze Ezeani, popularly known as “Edey Play” or “Edey Show.”

It was gathered that the victim, identified as Ozioma Nwankwo, was abducted from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on May 10, 2025, by a five-man syndicate and sold to the alleged native doctor in Enugu State.

In a statement released on Sunday, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said Akonobi was arrested on Saturday by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, following credible intelligence.

Ikenga said the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to committing the crime in collaboration with four other accomplices who are currently at large.
