2027 elections: Atiku, Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen pick ADC N90 million presidential forms

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, have obtained the African Democratic Congress’ expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Another presidential aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has also picked the form, pledging to prioritise security, job creation and the rising cost of living affecting millions of Nigerians, reports Saturday PUNCH.

The National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed to Saturday PUNCH on Friday that the three aspirants had already obtained the forms.

“Yes, the three of them (Atiku, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen) have obtained the forms,” he said.

The presidential nomination form costs N90 million.

Hayatu-Deen, who received the form from the party’s National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, on Friday, said the 2027 election must focus on restoring economic stability and improving national security.

In a statement, he said Nigerians were grappling with hardship and insecurity.

“Nigerians are tired of living in fear. They are tired of watching businesses struggle, jobs disappear, and the cost of basic necessities rise beyond what ordinary people can afford.

“This election cannot be about politics as usual. It must be about how to secure our communities, rebuild confidence in the economy, create jobs at scale, and make life more affordable for millions of Nigerians.

“We cannot build prosperity in an atmosphere of fear and instability. Security is the foundation upon which every strong economy is built,” he said.

The ADC has fixed the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for May 6 to May 13.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and state House of Assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027.

INEC also said party primaries and resolution of related disputes will take place between April 23 and May 30, 2026.

According to the Commission, campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, 2026, while governorship and state assembly campaigns are scheduled to start on September 9, 2026.
