2027 elections: If Tinubu loses, Atiku, Obi will target me – Wike confesses

The FrontierThe FrontierSeptember 3, 2026 610 Minutes read0

•Atiku, Tinubu, Obi and Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he expects to face the consequences first if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election to either Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi.

Wike made the statement while speaking during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he explained that his strong and public support for Tinubu’s re-election had made him a major target of opposition politicians, reports The Guardian.

He said he was fully aware of the political risks attached to his position but remained unapologetic about backing the president.

According to the FCT minister, his focus is firmly on securing Tinubu’s return to office, regardless of the criticism or personal political consequences that may follow. Wike maintained that he has been heavily criticised for his political choices but said the attacks would not make him abandon his support for the president ahead of 2027.
