The National Prayer Support Group for Good Governance (NPSGGG), Oyo State chapter has taken its campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election next year and the governorship ambition of Senator Sharafadeen Alli in Oyo State to the spiritual realm.
The group, during an interdenominational prayer in Ibadan, said divine intervention is needed to secure victory for leaders, whom they described as the right choices to consolidate on progress and deliver good governance to Nigerians and the people of Oyo, reports The Nation.
The leaders of the group said Tinubu’s economic reforms and Alli’s track record make them the best choices for 2027, noting that going spiritual was to seek God’s guidance, protection, and favour for the duo ahead of the elections.
The group urged members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and at national level to combine prayers with grassroots mobilisation, adding that they are confident the combination of faith and hard work will deliver victory for the APC in the presidential and Oyo governorship polls.
The Director General of NPSGGG, Abdul-Hakeem Atilade, urged aggrieved members of the party to drop their grievances and unite to ensure emergence of the party’s candidates in the forthcoming election.
Atilade, who said though, the objective of the event was to prayed, stated that prayer alone cannot work, but there is need for APC members to put in some effort as well.
According to him, the mandate of the group is to mobilise within the ward, local government, state and federal level to ensure better participation of APC members during elections, and to vote for the right candidate as being chosen by APC.
He called on APC members in Oyo State to rally around Alli and other candidates of the party in the state, saying that the party cannot afford to continue to remain as opposition in the state beyond 2027.
Earlier in her remark, the Oyo State Coordinator for the group, Hon. Mariam Abiola said the event was not just a mere gathering but solemn opportunity to seek the face of God concerning the nation, its leaders, and the future of Nigeria, adding that its necessary to pray for divine wisdom, guidance, peace, stability, and good governance in our country ahead of 2027 elections.
She said, “We particularly committed the leadership of our nation into the hands of Almighty God, praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Vice President Kasshim Shettima, as well as all elected leaders at the federal, state, and local government levels for God to grant them wisdom to lead with justice, courage, compassion, and the fear of God.”
