2027: Present your scorecard — ADC chieftain Dele Momodu tells Tinubu

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 3, 2026 671 Minutes read0

•Dele Momodu and Tinubu

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, says President Bola Tinubu should show the track record of his administration to convince Nigerians to vote for him in next year’s presidential election.

Momodu spoke today on Channels Television, where he said the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is what Nigerians need to make their choice in 2027.

“The 2027 election will not be difficult for Tinubu if he can show the records of his performance. Nobody hates him personally. Nobody wants to pick him out because they just don’t like him. It is about performance. Present your scorecards. So the people running around spreading hellfire, calm down and spread that energy on showing the performance of APC,” the publisher said on the breakfast show.

He mocked the APC for “abusing itself” by blaming the immediate past leadership at the federal level for the state of the nation. The journalist questioned Tinubu over the handling of Nigeria’s issues.

“What we see is APC abusing itself and its predecessors, saying they inherited a useless government and economy. I have never seen a place where a party destroys its own predecessors like APC,” he said. “Now, let’s assume President Tinubu inherited a bad government. What has he done to change the direction of his predecessor and change the lives of the people?”

The Ovation Magazine publisher then waded into the rift between former vice president Atiku Abubakar and former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

Obasanjo had described picking Atiku as his vice president as the greatest mistake.

But responding to the comment, Momodu claimed that Obasanjo does not want Atiku’s presidential dream to materialise.

He spoke months before the 2027 elections. The publisher is an ally of ex-vice president Atiku Abubakar, who is among the candidates vying for the country’s exalted seat.

Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is also on the ballot for next year’s poll.
